Since ancient times, roses have been used medicinally, nutritionally, and as a source of perfume. The cultivation of various fragrant flowers for obtaining perfumes, including rose water, dates back to ancient Persia, where it is known as golāb, from gul (rose) and ab (water).
A degree of uncertainty surrounds the origin of the English word "saffron". It might stem from the 12th-century old french term safran, which comes from the Latin word safranum, from the Arabic za'farān, which comes from the Persian word zarparan meaning "gold strung”
Wonderfully refreshing on a hot summer day, Sekanjabin is one of the oldest Persian drinks, is made of honey and vinegar and sometimes seasoned with mint.
